Have you ever considered that what you are doing right now as a parent will have an impact for 100 years? That thought should compel you to improve your parenting skills. Whether your current impact is negative or positive is crucial to determine and intentionally recalibrate your parenting skills. Why? So that your children and great-grandchildren can benefit from your life and your personal faith story. If you pass on your personal experiences of faith and failure, then those stories blaze a pathway for the future guidance of your children. Your family desperately needs to hear your faith stories.

It occurs to us that the Biblical message concerning Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the story of three flawed men, fathers, whom God the Father used to deliver his promises. If that’s accurate, there’s hope for all of us. Hope for parents with flaws and yet amazingly God the Father comes alongside to ensure our effectiveness as parents. He actually knows a lot about parenting. That amazing potential is the purpose behind the materials from Century Families. If you want your parenting to have lasting impact for 100 years then here are some things that seem to be crucial to that lasting impact.

  • A faith story that will be told for generations.

  • A profound understanding of the relational dynamics between parents (especially fathers) and children.

Consider the deep relationship between the Heavenly Father and His child (Jesus).

That perfect relationship ensures the powerful life work of Jesus. Jesus, as the son of the Heavenly Father, daily and regularly chooses to talk to Dad. Jesus needs his Dad’s approval. Jesus seeks his Dad’s leadership and counsel. Jesus yields to his Dad’s guidance. Isn’t that what you want from your children?

The goal of Century Families, Century Dads, and Century Moms is to lead you to that deep personal relationship with the Heavenly Father and all of His stories so that your children will be drawn to you and your stories for all of your days on this earth. And then, better yet, There areyour children will develop their own faith stories and pass on both their stories and your stories to grandchildren. And then, a legacy of faith stories is passed on as a blessing to great-grandchildren, and on and on and on. There’s 100 years at risk in your decision to develop and grow your faith story. May we encourage you with the faith stories behind Century Families and let those stories blaze a pathway for your journey.
